(VOVworld) – Ministers of 21 members of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) convened Sunday at a two-day forum in Iloilo, Philippines, to push for food security and blue economy in the region.
At the opening ceremony, Philippine Environment Secretary Ramon Paje said the two-day forum provides an opportunity to discuss feasible ways to advance sustainable management and conservation of coastal and marine ecosystems and habitats, improve biodiversity to boost fisheries productivity, and promote more ecological services. Paje expressed hope and confidence that the proposed Plan of Action of the APEC High Level Policy Dialogue on Food Security and Blue Economy will be adopted at the end of this meeting.
