(VOVWORLD) - APEC trade ministers on Saturday agreed to review trade barriers and expedite the cross-border transit of COVID-19 vaccines and related goods.

Ministers said in a joint statement that it’s necessary to boost production and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in a safe and effective way. The statement said that APEC countries pledge to support World Trade Organization negotiations for an intellectual property waiver on COVID-19 vaccines.
In three statements issued after the meeting, the ministers said they would "expedite the flow and transit of all COVID-19 vaccines and related goods through their air, sea and land ports."
The Ministers agreed on the need to restore the economies as strongly as possible beginning with accelerating vaccine distribution.
