The Parliament said Washington will be responsible for the effects of its decision on international peace and security.

The Arab MPs said Palestine has full sovereignty over the territories occupied by Israel in 1967, including Jerusalem. They called on the UN Security Council and UN General Assembly to annul the US decision, and clarify the legal status of Jerusalem.

The Arab Parliament asked all Palestinians to show solidarity and honor their commitment to the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, international law, and UN resolutions on East Jerusalem.

US President Donald Trump announced last week that the US acknowledges Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Iran’s defense minister, Brigadier General Amir Hatami, said Trump’s step will double the unity of Muslims. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized the US decision, which makes the US a contributor to the violence in the region. Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas asked all Middle Eastern countries to reject the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
