Arab press criticizes China’s violation of Vietnam's sovereignty

(VOVWORLD) - Arab newspapers have reported on the return of Chinese vessels in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone, calling it a violation of Vietnam’s sovereignty rights.

Many local news outlets quoted Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang as saying Vietnam demands that China immediately stop the violations and withdraw all ships from Vietnamese waters.

KUNA News of Kuwait said that China's redeployment of a survey vessel with armed escorts in Vietnam's offshore waters raises serious questions about Beijing's commitments to peaceful solution to maritime disputes as stated in the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.

Egypt’s Pyramid newspaper said that the US is deeply concerned about China’s interference in oil and gas activities in Vietnamese waters.

The Gate.ahram news site said that the Chinese ships’ operations in Vietnam's waters have escalated tensions in the region. It reported that the Chinese vessels on Saturday continued surveying in Vietnam's exclusive economic zone, about 100 km southeast of Phu Quy island and about 185km off the southern coast of Phan Thiet city.
