Argentine President concludes Vietnam visit

(VOVWORLD) - President Mauricio Macri, his spouse and a high-ranking Argentine delegation wrapped up their three-day State visit to Vietnam on Thursday. The visit was made at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong.

During his stay, President Macri held talks with his host President Trong and met Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. He attended the Vietnam-Argentina Business Forum and granted an interview to the Vietnam News Agency.

During the talks, the two sides briefed each other on the situation in their respective countries and discussed measures to continue making the Vietnam-Argentina comprehensive partnership more effective. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. Both sides agreed to work together towards a bilateral strategic partnership.

Speaking to the Vietnam News Agency, President Mauricio Macri said his visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and seeking specific cooperative opportunities. He said Vietnam is Argentina’s 5th largest trade partner in the world and 2nd largest trade partner in Asia and the two countries have great potential to boost bilateral trade, especially in agriculture. The Argentine President expressed his hope to further boost exports of agricultural products to Vietnam and that Vietnamese technology companies will invest in Argentina. He promised to support Vietnamese enterprises to expand their investment in Argentina.
