The Vietnamese delegation was led by Defence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich who said that dialogue, and cooperation for peace, stability, and development remain the main trend in relations among countries.

Achieving those goals will require solidarity and unity.

Minister Lich said one of the region’s concerns is to guarantee maritime security, safety, and navigation freedom in the East Sea. He put forth cooperation directions between ASEAN and partner countries, especially the ADMM+.

Mr. Lich said the ADMM+ cooperation will be more effective if ASEAN members and partner countries respect and fully abide by the ASEAN Charter and regulations concerning ASEAN’s dialogue partners.

On this occasion, General Lich met with Lao Minister of Defence Chansamone Chanyalath. The two agreed that their two armies will boost defense cooperation towards benefiting Vietnam and Laos and contributing to regional peace and stability.
