ASEAN nations seek closer tourism links

(VOVworld) – An international conference on the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Agreement for Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP) took place in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 8 and 9, focusing on strengthening intra-bloc links in travel, tourism, and hospitality.

The event, with the participation of ASEAN representatives, ASEAN dialogue partners, representatives of ASEAN neighbors, and world organizations, also aimed to boost skilled labor in tourism. Tran Nhat Hoang, Vice Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said Vietnam has worked to raise public awareness of the ASEAN MRA-TP through conferences and workshops. He said he hopes the agreement will create momentum for Vietnam’s tourism industry.

At the conference, the ASEAN MRA-TP Agreement was adopted as a measure for intra-bloc cooperation in tourism.
