(VOVWORLD) - The ASEAN Open Youth Voluntary Forum, ASEAN Plus Youth Volunteer Forum, and ASEAN Plus Youth Volunteer Award opened in the central province of Quang Binh on Wednesday.

The four-day event, organised by the National Committee for Youth in Vietnam and the Central Committee of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, brings together 50 volunteers from ASEAN countries and Japan to share experience in volunteering, and introduce their culture and national socio-economic development to others.
Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Youth Union and Vice Chairman of the National Committee for Youth in Vietnam, said during the past three years of the global COVID-19 pandemic, many volunteering activities and projects have been carried out in the region and globally. He noted that Vietnamese youth has taken the lead in social activities, focusing on activities on digital platforms and IT application.
The ASEAN Plus Youth Volunteer Award honors outstanding individuals, organizations, and volunteer models of ASEAN countries. Mr. Lam said he expects that a network of volunteers and organizations in the region will be built after the event, helping spread the spirit and jointly contribute to the recovery and development of the region and the world.
