ASEAN, Pacific Alliance boost cooperation

(VOVworld) – The Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) and the External Relations Group (GER) of the Pacific Alliance (PA) have met in Bangkok, Thailand, to discuss ASEAN-PA relations, opportunities, and challenges. Head of the Vietnamese delegation to ASEAN, Ambassador Nguyen Hoanh Nam attended the round-table meeting on Tuesday.

While talking about the cooperative potential between ASEAN and the PA, Mr. Nam said both sides shared many political similarities, had developed good political relations, and collaborated at international forums.
Delegates agreed that with their similar interests, ASEAN and the PA have advantages to enhance cooperation, connect ASEAN and Latin American countries, and help Pacific Alliance countries to approach the ASEAN and East Asian markets and resources. They agreed that it’s necessary to have an appropriate approach, with priority given to poverty reduction, narrowing development gaps, and facilitating trade and investment.
