ASEAN Secretary General visits Japan to promote closer ties

(VOVworld) – Japan and ASEAN have promised closer cooperation for a successful summit to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan diplomatic ties. While receiving ASEAN Secretary General Le Luong Minh on Tuesday, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed his hope for a “good result” for the summit. In response, Minh thanked Japan for its contribution to regional security. Japan has been an ASEAN partner for 40 years.

During Minh’s visit to Japan, he has talked with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida, who hoped that Minh, as the ASEAN Secretary General, will further the Japan-ASEAN relationship.

For his part, Minh called for Japan’s continued contributions to regional peace and prosperity.
