Australian Governor General's visit- Highlight of 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Australia ties

(VOVWORLD) - Australian Governor General David Hurley will begin a State visit to Vietnam from April 3 to April 6 at the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong.

Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski said that this is the third time the Australian head of state has visited Vietnam. The visit is part of activities to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1973-2023). Mr. David Hurley is the first among senior Australian leaders to visit Vietnam this year.

During the visit, Governor General of Australia David Hurley will meet with senior Vietnamese leaders, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Forces, a number of alumni who have graduated from universities in Australia, and educational institutions such as RMIT in Ho Chi Minh City.
He will also present medals to Vietnamese officials who have worked with the Australian Embassy for several years.
Ambassador Andrew Goledzinowski said through his visit to Vietnam, Mr. David Hurley wishes to strengthen links and honor relations between Australian and Vietnamese people. The visit will be a highlight of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-Australia diplomatic ties.
