Australia’s largest maritime exercise begins

(VOVWORLD) - Exercise Kakadu, the largest maritime drill off its kind in the Australian Northern Territory, began on Friday.

More than 3,000 personnel from 27 nations including the US, Japan, and China participated in a range of activities both ashore in Darwin and at sea. This is the first time China has taken part in this exercise. Australia’s Minister of Defence Christopher Pyne said more countries involved in this year’s drill than ever before and 23 ships, 21 aircraft, a submarine have been deployed.
