This system allows passengers to scan their own passports, which will save much more time than manual entry and exit procedures. 

“It takes only a couple of seconds to verify a passenger’s information thanks to the national database system. Passengers have given a big applause to the new service,” said Le Thi Hong Minh, Director General of the  Cam Ranh airport’s International Terminal.    

For exit, Vietnamese citizens must have a diplomatic passport or an official passport or be a crew member to use the Autogate system. Foreigners must have a valid permanent or temporary residence card.

For entry, Vietnamese citizens must have a passport with an electronic chip. Otherwise they must register to use the Autogate.

The Autogate system has not yet been applied for foreigners entering Vietnam.
