Kerry hopes to find some points of agreement between the US and China ahead of the UN Climate Change Conference to be held later this year in Dubai, UAE. He said the US and China have limited time to prevent a bleak future caused by global warming.

Kerry's visit is the third high-level visit to China by a US official following Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit in June and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen's visit earlier this month.

It is expected that there will be additional visits by high-ranking officials in the hope of creating a breakthrough and preventing a further decline in bilateral relations.
