Biden makes unannounced trip to Kyiv, vows support as long as needed
(VOVWORLD) - US President Joe Biden made an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Monday ahead of the one-year anniversary of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, promising President Volodymyr Zelenskiy that Washington would stand with Ukraine as long as it takes.

Zelenskiy said that he and Biden discussed long range weapons during the visit.
The US president promised a further 500 million USD worth of weaponry, including artillery ammunition, anti-armour systems and air defence radars, plus tighter sanctions on Russia.
Biden's visit came a day before President Vladimir Putin is due to make a major address, expected to set out Russia's aims for the second year of the "special military operation” he launched on February 24 last year.
