(VOVWORLD) - The New York Times on Friday quoted an anonymous source saying that US President-elect Joe Biden has assigned former Food and Drug Administration (FDA) chief David Kessler to be the top science official for the COVID-19 prevention program called Operation Warp Speed.

He will replace Dr. Moncef Slaoui, who resigned at the request of Biden’s transition team. Mr. Slaoui will continue his work within a month to support the work transition plan.
The same day, Mr. Biden outlined a plan to administer COVID-19 vaccines to the US population that includes reaching under-served urban areas and rural communities and improving communication channels among the states.
