Black box recovered from crashed DHL cargo plane near Vilnius
(VOVWORLD) - Lithuanian authorities have recovered the black box of the DHL cargo plane that crashed near Vilnius Airport on Monday. The flight data and cockpit voice recorders are expected to provide critical information as investigators work to determine the cause of the crash, officials announced on Tuesday.
Prosecutors said no evidence of terrorism or sabotage has been found thus far. Lithuanian authorities have launched a criminal investigation, with assistance from German officials who have already arrived in the country. Experts from the United States and Spain are also expected to join the effort.
The DHL plane, en route from Leipzig, crashed while attempting to land in the early hours of November 25. After skidding several hundred meters on the ground, the aircraft struck a building approximately one kilometer from the airport. The incident claimed the life of one crew member and injured three others.
