Brazilian President has advantages ahead of elections

(VOVworld) – A recent opinion poll has indicated that incumbent Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has re-gained support from voters 2 months ahead of the presidential election, despite the recent corruption scandal involving the Brazilian Petrobras Oil and Gas Corporation.

The survey, conducted on Tuesday by the MDA Company among 2,002 Brazilians, showed that Rousseff’s support rate had increased 37.5 per cent compared to 2 weeks ago. The poll also indicated that Rousseff was likely to lead the first round of presidential elections on October 5 with 38.1 per cent of the votes—4 per cent more than in a previous survey. The Brazilian Socialist Party’s candidate Marina Silva followed with 33.5 per cent of the votes, an increase of more than 5.3 per cent, while Aecio Neves of the Brazilian Democratic Socialist Party was expected to gain 14.7 per cent of the votes.
