With all 650 seats declared, the Conservatives had 318 seats and the Labor Party, 262, followed by the pro-independence Scottish National Party on 34.

The result left Mrs. May clinging onto power with the Prime Minister forced to pursue a deal with the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) which won 10 MP seats.

The same day, Mrs. May said she would make no change to her top ministers including finance minister Philip Hammond and foreign secretary Boris Johnson.

Following the election result announced, US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron had telephone conversations talks with Prime Minister Theresa May. The French and British leaders agreed on the need to maintain the friendship relations between the two countries. PM May and President Trump agreed on continuing to work closely with each other.
