(VOVworld) - A grand ceremony was held today in the Parisian suburb city of Orsay to mark the 2556^th anniversary of Buddha’s birthday. The Most Venerable Thich Tinh Quang underlined the significance of the anniversary. He also provided the participants with information on the origin and facts behind Buddha’s birthday. He urged the public to uphold the Vietnamese tradition of unity and being good citizens and religious followers. The Most Venerable Thich Tinh Quang said: "This anniversary is an ideal chance for us to celebrate Buddha’s birthday, the day he was born, to enlight us with his immense knowledge of the world and universe. Every year, on this day, we call on Buddhist followers around the world to strive forward for mankind’s peace and happiness."

The ceremony attracted representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in France, many Buddhist monks, nuns and followers, as well as overseas Vietnamese.
