Mr. Cuong said that Vietnam produced a vaccine that has had success in clinical trials and is expected to be available in the third quarter of next year.

Minister Cuong also reported on a strategy for agriculture production in the Mekong Delta in response to climate change, which, he said, “focuses on seafood, fruits and rice to adapt to climate change and meet export needs.”

“The region hopes to have about 4.4 billion tra fingerlings by 2025. As we are only meeting 40% of the whiteleg shrimp demand, we import about 250,000 breeding shrimp per year. Vietnam has selected 10 kinds of key fruit and wants to be among the top exporters of those fruits by 2030. Vietnam will also improve its high-quality rice. Nine types of Vietnamese fragrant rice are allowed to be exported to the European Union,” Mr. Cuong added.

Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said a Code of Conduct on the Internet will be issued this year, incorporating child protection.

Finance Minister Dinh Tien Dung proposed several solutions to ensure a balanced budget next year if GDP increases 6%.

“We have worked with other ministries and localities to remove obstacles to production and trade, boost public investment disbursement, and stimulate domestic demand. Tax management, debt collection, and elimination of transfer pricing have been strengthened. We’ll honor the National Assembly requests to handle arising budget issues,” said Minister Dung.
