Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam strengthen tripartite cooperation

(VOVWORLD) -The Prime Ministers of Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam have agreed to jointly promote an independent and self-reliant economy coupled with comprehensive international integration and to strengthen the effective connection of the three economies, considering these their strategic priorities.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his Lao counterpart Phankham Viphavanh, and his Cambodia counterpart Samdech Techo Hun Sen met on Wednesday as part the 45th ASEAN-EU Summit in Brussels. This has been their first tripartite meeting since the COVID-19 pandemic was under control.

At the meeting, the three Prime Ministers agreed to maintain regular bilateral and tripartite contacts, including the early coordination to organize the 12th Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle (CLV) Summit in Cambodia and accelerate the Action Plan implementation to connect the three CLV economies by 2030.

Discussing regional and global issues, the leaders affirmed that they will continue to closely coordinate and contribute to maintaining and consolidating ASEAN's solidarity and centrality.

Prime Minister Chinh applauded Laos' contributions as Coordinator of ASEAN-Australia relations and promised support for Laos to successfully fulfill the task of ASEAN Chair in 2024.
