Cambodia to resume farmed fish imports from Vietnam

(VOVWORLD) - The Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on Monday issued a press release about resuming of the import of aquatic products, including farmed fish, from neighbouring countries, including Vietnam.

The Ministry said it will continue to resolve challenges facing the fisheries industry.

Imports were suspended by Cambodia a month ago to support domestic fish farmers.
On January 19, Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh sent a letter to Cambodian Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak, requesting that Cambodia reconsider the suspension. The import ban runs counter to the trade liberalisation of the World Trade Organisation and the ASEAN Economic Community, Tuan Anh said.
