(VOVworld) – President Truong Tan Sang held talks with visiting Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni on Monday after an official state welcoming ceremony. President Sang spoke highly of the visit, which takes place when the two countries are celebrating the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year and the 45^th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties. He reiterated Vietnam’s unswerving policy of treasuring and fostering the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive and lasting cooperation with Cambodia. King Sihamoni expressed his sincere thank to the Vietnamese party, state and people for their enthusiastic and valuable support in the past and at present.

Later the same day, while meeting with the Cambodian King, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung stressed that Vietnam will do its utmost to work with Cambodia to improve ties in economics, trade, investment, education and training, culture and defence for both countries’ prosperities. Dung said that he hopes the King will support the early completion of border delineation as agreed and asked that Cambodia continues to help Vietnam search and repatriate Vietnamese volunteers who went missing in action. He also urged that Vietnamese community in Cambodia receive appropriate level of support. King Sihamoni said he believed that bilateral ties will develop deeply and more effectively.

At a reception for the visiting Cambodian King, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung said the success of the visit will mark a milestone in bilateral ties. He expressed his delight over the fruitful cooperation between the two National Assemblies, including the recent meeting on parliamentary friendship. Hung reiterated that the Vietnamese people together with the Cambodian people will preserve and develop the friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the two countries.

In the evening, President Truong Tan hosted a banquet in honor of the King and his entourage.
