Catholics welcome in Christmas

(VOVworld) – Millions of Catholic followers all over Vietnam are celebrating Christmas. Catholics followers and priests in Tra Vinh province are happy as their living standards have improved thanks to State and local authorities. Nguyen Van Rang, a Catholic follower from Dinh Binh diocese in Long Thoi commune, said: “As usual, on Christmas season, we hang up flags and clean up villages and houses to welcome in the holidays. This year our production is stable and poverty reduces considerably thanks to the great support from the State and the people.”

Leaders in An Giang province visit and present gifts to Catholics in 32 churches and chapels and families. Local Catholic dignitaries and followers have been preserving their patriotic tradition and working to improve their economy. Y Cha, a Catholic follower in Truong Xuan commune, said: “Our harvest for this year is quite good. Our lives are better. So the Christmas celebrations are more joyful. Every family organizes a Christmas feast, where we meet each other and enjoy the festive season.”
