(VOVworld) – 100 photos are on display in the central province of Quang Tri capturing Vietnam’s glorious Dien Bien Phu campaign in 1954 against the French colonialists. The exhibition praises the staunch spirit of Vietnamese soldiers during that period and encourages the younger generation to contribute more to the current national defense and construction.

Kim Dong Publishing House has released a memoir written by Do Son Ca, a soldier joining the offensive against A1 Hill under the Dien Bien Phu campaign. The book described soldier’s lives in wartime, from which readers can see their sacrifice for independence.

In Hanoi on Thursday, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism named 20 winners of a painting contest marking the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory and 55 years since the opening of Truong Son trail, a strategic supply route in the war. First prizes worth 500 USD each went to Dinh Thi Thu Huong from Hanoi who drew about Dien Bien Phu victory and Pham Anh Dung from Hung Yen province whose work was themed Truong Son trail.
