Molave, which struck central Vietnam on Wednesday, blew the roofs off or otherwise damaged 85,000 houses in Quang Ngai and devastated hundreds of construction sites and roads. Repair work is focused on schools, clinics, and roads. Secretary of Quang Ngai’s Party Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van said local authorities are helping people repair their houses and supporting families still living in temporary shelters.

Searches are still underway for persons missing in landslides in Quang Nam province. Mr. Tran Duy Dung, Chairman of the Nam Tra My district People’s Committee, said local authorities are doing all they can to help the victims. Quang Nam province evacuated many people from areas threatened by landslides.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told a government meeting on Friday that October’s widespread flooding in central Vietnam killed 230 people and caused great loss of property. The government has allocated 4.4 million USD to each of Vietnam’s five central provinces for flood recovery.
