Party leader To Lam speaks at a conference announcing the Politburo’s decision to establish the Central Theoretical Council for the 2026-2031 term, Hanoi, March 10, 2026.

Presenting the Secretariat’s decision assigning Nguyen Xuan Thang as Chairman of the Council, Party General Secretary To Lam expressed hope that the body would become a hub bringing together leading theorists and experts, serving as a center for strategic research and consultation on major national issues.

He asked the Council to continue elevating its role as the core force in the Party’s theoretical work. 

“Theoretical work is of special importance as it helps shape the Party’s ideological foundation and guiding principles, while providing long-term strategic vision and development roadmaps for each stage of national development,” the Party leader said. 

He urged the Council to effectively promote its advisory role to the Party, particularly the Politburo and the Secretariat, in considering and deciding major strategies and orientations for national development.
