The central and central highlands region is forecast to endure heavy downpours as of Friday with total rainfall expected to measure between 100 mm and over 250 mm.

Meanwhile, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control met on Friday to discuss response to a tropical low-pressure that has weakened from Typhoon Goni.

Fishermen have been urged to avoid the path of the storm and tropical depression, while residents have been told to prepare for the possibility of severe flooding, landslides, and an evacuation from low-lying areas to minimize the impact of the weather event.
