Chad soldiers claim win over rebels

(VOVWORLD) - Chad's military claimed victory on Sunday after a weeks-long battle with northern rebels that led to the death of President Idriss Deby of battlefield injuries.
At an army base in N'Djamena, dozens of captured rebels sat in the dirt, on display for the assembled press. General Abakar Daoud, Chief of Chad’s General Staff, said the fighting has ended and the rebels are defeated.
However, the rebel group Front for Change and Concord in Chad (FACT) said it’s not aware of an end to fighting.
FACT fighters crossed the border from Lybia in April to take a stand against President Deby.
