Charity programme raises millions of USD for the poor
(VOVWORLD) - 4.5 million USD was donated through “Merciful hands”, a charity programme to support poor people in Hanoi and 21 localities nationwide.

The program in Hanoi on Thursday was attended by National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan. Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said: “The programme is a chance for sponsors and enterprises to work with the city to implement social security policies, and contribute to poverty reduction”.
Hanoi gave each of 4,000 poor families 1,900USD to build a new house or 1,500 USD to repair their old house. It also paid over 300,000 USD for surgeries for 240 children with heart problems and cleft palates.
