China decries US ban on Chinese firms as 'abuse of state power'
(VOVWORLD) - China on Thursday denounced rules unveiled by the US that ban technology giant Huawei and other Chinese firms from government contracts as "abuse of state power" in the latest move in the escalating China-US trade war.

The abuse of state power by the US to unscrupulously and deliberately throw mud at and suppress specific Chinese enterprises seriously undermines the image of the US and its own interests, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying. She added that China firmly supports the relevant Chinese companies in taking up legal action to safeguard their legitimate rights and interests.
The White House’s Office of Management and Budget on Wednesday banned US federal agencies from buying tech and equipment manufactured by Huawei and some other Chinese companies. The new rule, which will take effect next Tuesday, is part of a broad US push against Huawei, the world’s largest telecommunications network gear maker, which Washington accuses of espionage and stealing intellectual property.
