China, India agree to defuse border tensions

(VOVWORLD) - India and China will ease tensions and avoid escalation along their disputed Himalayan border, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishanka agreed during a phone conversation on Wednesday.

Wang accused Indian troops of provoking border clashes on Monday. He called on India to carefully investigate the case to make sure no similar incident happens in the future.

Jaishanka said Chinese soldiers were “directly responsible” for the aggression.

Both leaders agreed to cool the situation down and work towards a solution based on bilateral agreements to secure border peace and security.
