China orders US to close Chengdu consulate
(VOVWORLD) - The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs ordered the US to close its consulate in the southwestern city of Chengdu on Friday in retaliation to the Trump administration’s decision to shut down the Chinese embassy in Houston.

The Chinese Ministry informed the US Embassy of the decision to withdraw the operation permission for the US Consulate General in Chengdu.
The ministry also made specific requests for the suspension of all activities and events organized by the US Consulate General in Chengdu.
China said that the closure was a legitimate and necessary response to the unjustified act by the US, adding that the current situation in Chinese-US relations is not what China desires.
