(VOVWORLD) - China's CR450 train, touted as the world's fastest electric multiple unit (EMU), hit a record speed of 453 km per hour during pre-service trials, according to the China State Railway Group.

The CR450 has been subjected to continuous, rigorous testing since the prototype rolled out late last year.
After successfully meeting all performance metrics, including reaching a top speed of 450 km per hour, the train is now undergoing operational evaluation on the Shanghai–Chongqing–Chengdu high-speed rail line.
It must accumulate 600,000 kilometers of successful operation before the train is cleared for commercial passenger service.
