China’s Shanghai Yangming Auction Co. Ltd. suspends auction of Vietnamese royal ordinations

(VOVWORLD) - The Shanghai Department of Tourism has demanded the suspension of the auction of Vietnamese royal ordinations by the China’s Shanghai Yangming Auction Co., Ltd, said deputy spokesperson for the Vietnam Foreign Ministry Doan Khac Viet.

During a press conference in Hanoi on Thursday, Mr. Viet responded to reporters' question about the auction of 12 royal ordinations, of which 3 likely belong to the Quoc Te temple in Di Nau commune, Tam Nong district, Phu Tho province.

Viet said the Vietnamese General Consulate in Shanghai has worked with relevant authorities of Shanghai on the suspension of the auction of ordinations.

"We asked Shanghai to provide information about the ordinations. On April 19, a representative of the Shanghai Department of Culture and Tourism said it had requested to suspend the auction and was ready to coordinate with Vietnamese authorities to verify information. In the coming time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will direct Vietnamese representative agencies in China to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and related agencies and localities to closely follow the case and implement further support measures."
