China's top political advisory body starts annual session
(VOVWORLD) - The third session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) opened Thursday afternoon in Beijing with Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and other Chinese leaders attending the opening meeting.

Wang Yang, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, praised the committee’s contributions to the Chinese Party and the nation over the years, adding that the committee played an important role in national development and in fighting COVID-19.
High on the agenda will be discussions regarding epidemic prevention and control, economic recovery, welfare, fighting corruption, and poverty reduction.
The session is scheduled to take place for a week.
