Chinese Defense Minister visits the US

(VOVworld) - Visiting Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan is expected to hold talk with the US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel in the Pentagon on Monday. Pentagon spokesman Steve Warren said the visit will help sustain the positive momentum that has been achieved in the U.S.-China military relationship over the past 18 months since the then Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping visited the US in January. This is also an opportunity for both countries’ leaders to discuss military issues, including network security, as well as regional and global issues.

On Friday, Minister Chang met separately with Samuel Locklear, commander of the U.S. Pacific Command and Charles Jacoby, commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command. According to a senior US defense official, Washington is seeking to maintain dialogue with China on a wide range of issues and has established a military hot line between the two countries.
