Chol Chnam Thmay festival celebrated in localities

(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Tan Toi, on Monday led a delegation to visit religious dignitaries and followers in pagodas in Bac Lieu province on the occasion of the Khmer people’s Chol Chanam Thmay festival.

At each stop, Mr. Toi urged the religious dignitaries and followers to contribute to national defence and follow measures to control COVID-19.

The same day, Ho Chi Minh City authorities met with Lao and Cambodian students who are studying in Vietnam on the occasion of Laos’s Bunpimay festival and Cambodia’s Chol Chnam Thmay festival. Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai called for Vietnamese, Lao, and Cambodian students to foster solidarity between the three countries.

The Military Command of the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong on Monday visited and gave gifts to soldiers of Cambodia’s Mondulkiri province military sub-region to mark the occasion.

Colonel Nguyen Van Lu, Commander of the Border Guard Force of Dak Nong province expressed his hope that the two forces will continue to cooperate to protect the border area, fight the COVID-19 pandemic, and stop illegal immigration from spreading COVID-19.

On Monday, the Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations and Can Tho city’s Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association met with Khmer members and Cambodian students in the city to honor their traditional Chol Chnam Thmay festival.
