Chol Chnam Thmay new year gathering of Khmer people

(VOV) – Local authorities in some southern provinces, home to Khmer people, held various activities this week to help the community enjoy Chol Chman Thmay, the traditional Khmer new year.

The province of Soc Trang organized a gathering of 350 monks, nuns, relatives of war invalids, and heroic mothers. Vo Minh Chien, Secretary of the provincial Party Central Committee, said the province will continue disseminating and implementing policies for ethnic people, enhancing the Party’s leadership for ethnic minority people, mobilizing resources for developing infrastructure, and providing vocational training for ethnic minority youth.

In Tra Vinh province, revolutionary veterans, and religious dignitaries expressed their delight at the local authorities’ care for Khmer people. They affirmed that Khmer people believe in Party and State guidelines and policies and are exerting efforts in study and production to develop the economy and build a more prosperous locality.

The same day, Vinh Long province held a Chol Chnam Thmay new year ceremony with the participation of monks, nuns and Khmer soldiers in the province.
