(VOVworld) - Sam Rainsy, leader of the opposition Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP), on Tuesday declared an end to a three-day demonstration in Phnom Penh. But in an announcement following their second meeting with representatives of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), Rainsy and CNRP vice president Kem Sokha called on supporters to prepare for another demonstration if their demands on issues related to the elections are not met. Rainsy called the meeting with the ‘successful’. According to Rainsy, there was no violence during CNRP’s protest and his party bore no responsibility for the one death and several injuries that occurred. He insisted that the 55 CNRP parliamentarians will not attend the first session of the fifth legislature, to be convened next Monday. The CNRP will continue to demand reforms of Cambodia’s Parliament.
