Coal sector urged to ensure supply for economic development
(VOVWORLD) - The Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Holding Corp (Vinacomin) will focus on boosting innovative technology and enhancing mechanisation and automation to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve competitiveness, thus promoting reasonable and sustainable growth.

A Vinacomin leader told the coal sector’s review conference in Hanoi on Wednesday that the group is set to earn 5.5 billion USD in revenue this year.
At the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung urged the group to ensure coal supply for national development. He also called on Vinacomin to improve quality of coal, protect the environment, and save human resources. It is estimated that Vietnam will need 58 million tons of coal for electricity generation in 2019, 90 million tons in 2025 and 130 million tons in 2030.
