(VOVWORLD) - Coastal provinces in Vietnam are taking proactive measure in response to the complex developments of typhoon Kalmaegi. In Quang Ngai, over 6,000 fishing boats have been safely anchored, with all receiving updated storm movement information. Rescue and emergency response teams are on standby.

Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai's People’s Committee, Do Tam Hien, said: “We closely monitor weather forecasts and conduct regular inspections to promptly relocate residents and minimize damage. The provincial Military Command has also mobilized support forces in five key areas.”

Meanwhile, more than 300 fishing boats with 3,000 fishermen from south-central provinces operating near the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands have been guided to storm shelters. Naval forces have provided fresh water, food, and shelter to fishermen, while helping secure property and reinforce structures.
In Gia Lai, border guards and local authorities have safely brought vessels ashore and reinforced aquaculture cages.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tin, Deputy Head of Cat Khanh Border Station, said: “Our officers are assisting vessels with safe anchorage, storm preparedness, and fire prevention to ensure the safety of people and property.”
