According to Khmer tradition, the water lantern release during the Ok Om Bok Festival shows people’s gratitude to nature for bringing peace, happiness, and good harvests. Continuing the tradition of water lanterns and Ca Hau boats encourages the Khmer community to value and preserve their cultural heritage.

Nguyen Minh Tuan, deputy director of Can Tho's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the Loiprotip and Ca Hau boat performances are important to the Khmer community, showing their faith and traditional culture.
