Delegates shared their experience in managing fishery resources and abiding by IUU regulations.
Tran Đinh Luan, General Director of the Directorate of Fisheries, said the community plays an important role in co-managing and protecting coral reefs and fishery resources in general.
“In specific ecosystems such as beaches and areas of young animals, we need to collaborate to better co-manage for sustainable exploration. Co-management groups will help state agencies and local authorities manage, exploit, and use resources sustainably and effectively and improve the living conditions of coastal people," Mr. Luan said.
Organized by the Directorate of Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Vietnam Fisheries Association, the United Nations Development Program, and the Global Environment Facility- Small Projects Grant Program (UNDP-GEF SPG), the forum drew managers and fishermen in central coastal localities.
