(VOVworld)- An international conference took place on Tuesday in Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, to discuss ways to strengthen the Vietnam-Thailand relationship.

Conference on intensifying Vietnam - Thailand ties opens

The conference, jointly held by Chulalongkorn University’s Institute of Security and International Studies and the Institute for Southeast Asian Studies of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, is part of the activities to celebrate the 40^th anniversary of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relations. In his address, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Nguyen Tat Thanh said Thailand was the first country to set up a strategic partnership with Vietnam. Conference delegates discussed cooperation among Mekong sub-region countries, ASEAN’s stance on the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA)’s ruling on East Sea disputes, climate change, and potentials of the East-West Economic Corridor in correlation with the Southern Economic Corridor.
