Conference on measures to cope with infectious diseases in Asia

(VOV) – The 8th conference on measures to cope with infectious diseases in Asia took place today/ on Tuesday in Hanoi.

The conference was initiated by the Asian network of major cities to step up cooperation on public health care to control and prevent infectious diseases across the region. Health experts from Vietnam’s Ministry of Health and Hanoi’s Department of Health as well as specialists from the 12 large Asian cities shared their experiences and ways of preventing infectious diseases, especially A/H5N1 flu, tuberculosis and several tropical diseases. Nguyen Thanh Long is Deputy Minister of Health: "In recent decades, several major Asian cities have faced newly arising diseases such as hand, foot and mouth disease which claimed hundreds of children’s lives. We are also facing other epidemics such as A/H5N1 and new type of corona virus. The spread of these diseases has prompted us to work together more closely to deal with disease".

Mr. Long stated that Vietnam is one of the countries to be the hardest hit by infectious diseases, so it is essential to cooperate moer with regional countries and around the world to prevent and control infectious diseases.
