Delegates exchanged information and sought cooperative measures to boost investment and trade among tourist companies of countries in the Greater Mekong area. The delegates also shared products that would draw more visitors from abroad.

Nguyen Duc Kien, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Economic Affairs, said: "Tourism is one of the spearhead industries of Vietnam and other countries in the Greater Mekong sub-region. With its advantages of nature and adversity of cultures, the Mekong Delta has many attractive tourist destinations."

Tourism in these countries has been limited due to weak infrastructure and a shortage of skillful personnel. In order to develop resilient tourism, Mekong delta countries should increase measures to protect natural and cultural heritages. They should also create favorable conditions for traveling, especially visa offices at road border gates.
