(VOVWORLD) - The groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of 72 inter-level boarding schools - primary and lower secondary schools - were held simultaneously in border communes across Vietnam on Sunday.

The ceremonies were broadcast live, connecting 13 locations. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended a ceremony at Yen Khuong commune, Thanh Hoa province.
Emphasizing that education and training are always the top national policy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the Politburo has directed the investment policy to build inter-level boarding schools in 248 border communes. The strategic policy aims at constructing modern, well-equipped schools and a higher goal of building “fortresses of knowledge” along the national borders, ensuring that every border resident has access to education, basic social services, and opportunities for comprehensive development.
The Prime Minister urged the Ministry of Education and Training and local authorities to frequently visit construction sites, promptly address obstacles, and support contractors and supervisors to maintain optimal working conditions to inaugurate the new schools for the 2026–2027 academic year.
As of Sunday, 28 inter-level boarding schools are under construction in Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Son La, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Tri, Hue, and Da Nang. A total of 100 inter-level boarding schools is scheduled to be newly built or renovated by August 30, 2026.

Also on Sunday morning, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh attended the groundbreaking of Son Kim 1 Boarding School in Ha Tinh province. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended the ceremony in Khuat Xa commune, Lang Son province. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung attended the groundbreaking of five inter-level schools in Tuyen Quang province. Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long attended the ceremony for Thanh Nua Primary and Lower Secondary Boarding School in Dien Bien province.
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra attended the event in Muong Khuong commune, Lao Cai province. Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc attended the ceremony for Thuan An inter-level boarding school in Lam Dong province. Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh attended the event for Ia Rve commune, Dak Lak province. Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son attended the ceremony for Vinh Gia inter-level boarding school in An Giang province.
