Construction starts on HCM City-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh expressway

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Saturday attended a groundbreaking ceremony of a section on the Ho Chi Minh City-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh expressway.

Running through Binh Duong province, section is more than 52km long, and designed with six lanes, enabling vehicles with maximum speed of 100 km per hour. The project contributes to realizing the goal of 5,000 km of expressways that the Party and Government have set for the 10-year period until 2030.

The PM witnessed the handing over of decisions approving the investor selection for the expressway project and gave gifts of gratitude to the people who gave up land for the project.

He urged the People's Committee of Binh Duong province to resolutely direct investors, supervision consultants and contractors to promote their highest sense of responsibility to ensure progress, quality, safety, technology, aesthetics, and hygiene environment. PM Chinh requested greater efforts to closely follow the project, be drastic in managing quality, progress, and removing obstacles throughout the project implementation process.

Once completed, the Ho Chi Minh City-Thu Dau Mot-Chon Thanh expressway, together with the other sections that run through the two localities of Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Phuoc province, will link the Central Highlands an Southeast regions and the whole country.

The Prime Minister also witnessed Binh Duong province granting investment decisions on seven  social housing projects worth 340 million USD, which are expected to build 9,200 apartments for workers and low-income people.

Binh Duong also handed over investment licenses to eight foreign investment projects (including new and adjusted projects) with a total investment capital of more than 1.2 billion USD.
